Late Posting.. 31st May 2008 Dinner @ Vittles recommanded by King of Thrift 2 by Channel 8. Went with Kenny, Xinying & Mr Oo as its been a long since we’ve met. It was still full when we reached there abt 9+. Must be the show which bring in the crowd. After we’ve taken our orders, we helped ourselves with free freshly POP popcorns.

There alot of people still waiting for their food as at 1 time only able to fix 8 paxs meal. Thus the waiting time will be long. With the staffs busy doing service of the soups & appitizers, they remembered to top up the popcorn to the machine for it to pop & stuff the people who are hungry-ly watiting for their mains. Consider quite a gd service with them not charging any and there’s no GST too.. All net net net..

Food 7/10
To me, mushroom soup is consider quite basic and it can’t be not nice unless you keep on adding water to the soup. The nachos are freshly baked/fried which is actually quite nice but juz a little soft not so much much crunch in it. The fish is actually quite nice with a layer of pamesan on the top. The beef is a little tough which is nt my liking. I like the sides too.. I had gratinated potato and mixed veggies. I liked the potato as its soft with a top layer of cheese. But for the veggies, i think they had cooked too long which made them a little soggy, i had taste better ones.

No illegal parking

Illegal parkers take note.. The sign is really there to tell u not to park illegally.. The guards at my workplace have been clamping vehicles for the past few mths. Out of gd-will sometimes we will release them. But sometimes they r juz too much so had to ask them pay up then they appeal.
Thus i’m always careful outside when i see this sign.. cuz i believe in karma..opps..

Another holiday.. A celebration which me & my colleagues will be worry about. Every yr at least sth may go wrong on this day of celebration at my work place. Its either residents burnt the bin down @ the bin chute or had a incident of resident had his room burnt. *Headache* Hopefully nth will go wrong this time.. *worried*

Yesterday Mr Oo celebrated my Birthday in very early advance for me. Took leave for the day. Went to had set lunch @ North Border Bar & Grill located at 2 Rochester.  So happy cuz i’ve been wanting to go there. Then to KTV & follow by he brought me to sit the cable car (which i din even thought that he will bring me) lol~ Initally he wanted to had dinner in there but the lunch made us feel so full even we ate early & i feel that its so ex lor.. Was a pleasent evening sitting in the car but its a little warm in there that’s all.. After reaching back to Mount Faber, the place starts to spray out soap forms snow. So both of us took a X’mas pic in advance.. ha~

By the way, my wish-list is up. *smile*

Woke up early morning just to eat this famous Ba Kut Teh (alot of actors & actresses went there too with lots of photos at the stall) with my Mum & Dad. They have another stall at Havelock Rd which only operate at night. Its been a long time since i’ve been there to eat cuz have to wake up early morning during weekends/holiday to avoid the crowd.. Before they moved to Tanjong Pagar PSA area, they were located@ Outrum Park before the flats were demolished.. Reached there about 9plus and the crowd is starting the filled up the seats. After we get our seats, there’s the paper(forgotten to take tt pic) for us to choose what we wanna eat & then pass to the service staff.. oh ya, for those who likes to eat Ba Kut Teh, remember to ask the thick/sweet dark soy sauce from them.. Dun use the one in the bottle cuz it dun go well with the meat as told by my parents..

service 7/10 
The service staffs will walk around with a metal cup filled with soup for top-up.. They will try to attend to you asap after helping another table. Though there are quite a few staffs to help out the stall but then when it get busy.. woo.. its real busy…
food 7.5/10
I like the Teochew style soup.. Nearly clear base with lots of pepper.. *yummy* Sometimes they will also serve dessert (free-of-charge.. lol~) but im not too sure how often they do that..The dark base soup which i think is the Hokkien style is nice too for certain stalls.. Will try to post up next time..

Later in the evening, Mr Oo brought me to the Central cuz its been a long time since i told him that i wanna go.. Not all shops are open. Went to get the japanese mini cake at the basement, had walked more than 30mins just to find the shop.. Finally found but no pic was taken. Later on called up Kenny & gf for dinner @ Manhattan Fish Market which Mr Oo said he saw it shown on dunno which TV program. Actually the image they gave is almost like Fish & Co.

The staffs are friendly from the time you walked into the restaurant. But guess some of the staffs are still quite new cuz 1 of them who took our orders seems nervous.. But overall the food came quite fast & no wrong orders by any1.. good..

From the pic above, the Seafood Chowder seems a little too plain but dun get fool by it.. Inside its filled with Prawns & sth like Lobster’s meat.. can give it a try.. The Fish & Chips that i had was nice & crispy.. The meat was full with just a thin layer of the crisps coating.. The portion was just nice not too big.. Same goes to the platter for 2, compare to the ones from Fish & Co. which is a little too big.. 3 peeps sharing will be just nice unless they are very hungry.. lol~ Next time i’ll try the platter for 2 cuz there’s oysters.. *yummy*

Went to had dinner @ e.BlackBoard last sat with Mr Oo, Kenny & his gf.. Had saw the post from ieatishootipost so decided to try the food there.. The place was not difficult to find as i thought it would, parking was fine (gonna park nearer inside as the shop is on the other end of the block from the entrance of the carpark.) Din get to take a pic of the queue after us.. Lucky tt we had already decided wat we want to eat before-hand, else we’ll be in that long queue.. Its more of like Botakjones located in a CoffeeShop kind..

ambience: 5/10
Coz its @ coffeeshop so not so much of the ambience juz very family..
service: 6/10
The svc is quick but the servers not so helpful (mayb busy but then the tone nt so nice)
food: 7.5/10
The lamb bit too small in the BB Mixed Grill, a little more sauce to the steaks & bratwursts will be better, not able to choose the sides (onli left with fries & coleslaw) But the 11″ Veal Bratwurst is nice and soft (easy to cut), the Pork with the pineapple sauce on it makes a different to the pork chop u’ve eaten else where.. So overall the food is nice there.. Go give it try if you are @ Bedok..

After dinner, we went to Geylang for Dessert as we were way too early for the drinking session… The dessert - Gwai Ling Go (for those who dunno - the pic below) its gd for those with indigestion, sensitive skin, constipation & etc.. I’m having the nomal flavour and the rest had menthol flavour (the bowl with blue strip on it) you can also add honey to it if you dun really take bitter.. The shop not onli selling this but also herbal tea, mango pudding (if i nv notice wrongly cuz i always go for Gwai Ling Go) & etc.. The shop is located along the main road on the right hand side & easy to spot but as for parking, its either to try luck to see if there lot infront of the shop or park further & walk..

Last nite had a treat from Kenny at Astons. Think if you’ve been browsing thru’ the food blogs, you should know abt this shop selling western food at a reasonable price.. The steaks they are selling there is nice, u can even choose your own side order (2 of them) The way they had the steak cooked, the grill marks make u drool even juz looking at it.. Knowing some of my frens are not beef lovers, they also have the usual orders like fish & chic to choose.. Nw its gonna to close from 17th to end of this mth, hope to see the change in there as they are goin expand their premises from a 36 seater to a 90 seater.. Cuz usually peeps gonna wait for almost 1/2 hr (non-peak) / 1hr (peak)  to be seated. But with fast good service & good food, they’re willing to wait.
